A private car insurance policy refers to an insurance policy that covers your private four-wheeler. The point to note here is that the vehicle should be for private usage, not commercial usage. Such usage entails utilising the car to commute to work, go on road trips, etc. The policy’s coverage depends upon the chosen cover.
The private car package policy by ACKO (Comprehensive Cover) offers a hassle-free insurance experience thanks to low-cost plans, cashless claims, instant claim settlement for minor damages, and other such features and services.
Here are the three basic types of private car insurance policies and their coverage details.
A Third-party Liability Policy is an insurance policy that covers you against third-party liabilities. It includes coverage for damages (caused by the insured car) to third-party vehicles or property and injuries (including death) to a third party. This policy is mandatory as per The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
The Own Damage Cover (OD) offers insurance coverage for damages to your private vehicle caused due to accidents, fire, and manmade or natural calamities. Car theft is also an inclusion. You can also enhance the coverage by adding suitable add-on covers at an additional premium.
A Comprehensive Car Insurance Policy is an insurance policy that combines the benefit of the Third-party Liability Policy and Own Damage Car Insurance, making it a wide-ranging cover. You can also include suitable add-on covers to strengthen your coverage.
We offer different types of private car insurance policies to suit your needs. Here are their coverage details and benefits.
The Third-party Cover offers you financial protection against third-party liabilities. It is a mandatory car insurance cover, thus you must have at least this type of car insurance cover to drive legally.
The Third-party Cover does not cover damages to your car. However, such instances are covered under the Own Damage Cover, also known as the OD cover.
The Comprehensive - Basic Plan is an ideal car insurance policy that covers damages to your car and third-party liabilities, and gives you the option to buy add-on covers to enhance the overall coverage.
You enjoy a superior claim experience with this ACKO plan. When you raise a claim, we arrange to pick up and deliver your repaired car at no cost. Just make sure you notify us before any claim-related repairs of your own. If you fail to do so, you have to pay Rs. 5,000 as a deductible.
The Zero Depreciation - Basic Plan, also known as the Bumper-to-Bumper Policy, includes the benefits of the Comprehensive - Basic Plan and covers the depreciation cost of the car’s parts. You can also include add-on covers to strengthen the plan further.
The Zero Depreciation - Smart Saver Plan has all the coverage offered by the Zero Depreciation - Basic Plan at a discounted cost. When you submit a claim, ACKO bears the entire repair bill, and you just pay Rs. 5,000 as a deductible (over and above the mandatory charges). It is an ideal plan for those who think the chances of raising a claim are lesser.
Under this ACKO-exclusive car insurance plan, you can enjoy the advantages of Comprehensive - Basic and Zero Depreciation - Basic Plans. It also offers a hassle-free claims experience.
