Known for its rich culture and traditions, Himachal Pradesh hosts several international fairs in the state. These fairs along with festivals are an integral part of the people of Himachal Pradesh. Below are some of the popular festivals and fairs celebrated in Himachal Pradesh:
Manali Winter Festival: People across the globe come to witness the music and folk dance of the locals. Held in the month of January, the winter festival in Manali is certainly a time to be in Himachal Pradesh as the place is covered in snow. You can visit the Solang valley if you are interested in a skiing competition.
Lohri: The local community comes together on the 13th of January to celebrate Lohri by dancing and singing folk songs. A fair is organised on the occasion of Lohri in Pragpur located in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
Lavi Fair: People from Kullu, Kinnaur, and nearby places come together in the town of Rampur, which is situated on the banks of the beautiful river Sutlej. The Lavi fair is a great opportunity to witness the handloom industry which includes woollen clothes, carpets, shawls and jewellery. You can also witness the trade between villagers.
Dussehra: This is the largest fair held in Himachal Pradesh. The significant aspect of Dussehra in the state is that it is celebrated in Kullu when the festival ends in other parts of the country. The fair lasts over a week and people use the fair to trade their goods. Cultural programs are held at the end of the day in which artists from other countries such as France, Russia and others participate.
