Blending Consonants- Understanding Word Building !

Now reading is a very important activity that your child must be proficient in, but apart from that he/she must learn the trick of blending two consonants while reading such that sounds of both are heard separately. For this activity you will need old newspapers or magazines, scissors, stapler and some ten sheets of paper.

Steps:

1. First tell your child about the rules and give them examples of such consonants like, cr, st, tw, bl etc. and ask them to suggest some.

2. Give them one newspaper each and ask them to find ten blends from each paper.

3. Ask them to write down the blends on the blank sheets and staple the sheets together to form a book. Within few days, the book will be full of blends.

Thus, your child will be proficient in this activity with time. Like knowing, understanding word building is also important. This activity will help your child with that.
