Requisites: Four sheets of cardboard- purple, lilac, orange and green, one sheet of white paper, a pair of safety scissors, art glue, a black sketch pen or a marker pen
Steps:
1. For the eyes- Take a sheet of white paper and draw two circles of the same size. Cut them out and outline the eyes using a black marker or a sketch pen. Using a green coloured cardboard paper, make smaller circles of uniform size that can fit into the bigger circles made previously. Cut them out and stick them onto the bottom of the bigger circles. Add lashes, outline with black sketch pen, etc., for more detailing.
2. For the wings- Take the same sheet of green coloured cardboard paper and draw two tear shapes on it, of the same size. Cut them out and outline them for definition.
3. For the body- Take the purple coloured cardboard paper and draw a tongue shape onto it. Cut it out carefully and keep it aside. Now, take a sheet of lilac coloured cardboard paper and draw an oval that would fit into the tongue shape. Cut out the oval and stick it on the bottom part of the tongue shape.
4. For the beak- Take a sheet of orange coloured cardboard paper and draw a small triangle on it. Cut it out and keep it aside.
5. For the feet- Use the same sheet of orange cardboard and draw two small ovals of the same size on it. Cut them and your owl’s feet are ready.
6. Take the body of the owl and stick the eyes close to one another at the top centre of the body. Take the triangle and stick it upside down, right below the eyes. Stick the two ovals for the feet. Also, stick the wings from behind the body of the owl in a slanted manner. Your cute owl is now ready for display!
This activity will fine tune your child’s eye-hand coordination and hand muscle control as he creatively engages himself in this craft activity.
