Each day your growing baby will be developing and learning something new, crossing milestones with startling rapidity. One such milestone is the clapping of hands.
Contents
Your baby clapping hands is as much a fun thing to watch as it is an important milestone to look out for. Clapping indicates both cognitive and emotional development. It means that your little one has gained a certain amount of control over her limbs, and has learnt to coordinate and bring her hands together. It also denotes correct development of muscle strength.
Once your child starts clapping, stimulate her to do it more often; for example, by doing it yourself, making a game out of it, or clapping along to music. If by one year of age, you do not note this milestone in your little one, do consult your paediatrician.
