The LL is valid for a period of 6 months. You need to renew the LL if it is expired in order to obtain the driving licence.
You can reappear for the test the next day onwards after paying the required fees.
No, it is not compulsory to obtain the DL through the driving school, especially in the case of a private or non-commercial vehicle. However, in case of commercial/transport vehicles, it is mandatory to get the DL through the driving school.
From the date of issue, the driving licence to drive a private vehicle is valid for 20 years or at the time of attaining the age of 50 years. Post the expiry it has to be renewed every 5 years. The validity of DL for commercial or transport vehicles is 3 years from the date of issuing the document. And, for DL to drive transport vehicles which are engaged in transporting hazardous or dangerous goods is 1 year from the date of issue.
The RC has to be renewed at the local RTO from where the vehicle is registered. However, if you have moved to a different zone, district or state, you need to renew it at the RTO in whose jurisdiction you presently reside and drive the vehicle.
