Wear Helmets

 The Penalty Point System in Telangana

The government of Telangana has come up with a point system to cut back traffic violation. If an individual exceeds more than 12 points in two years, then the government  has all the right to cancel his/her driving license for a year.

If the individual repeats it again, then the government has all the right to cancel it in two years. Also individuals with learning license can’t get more than 5 points, in such case, they won’t be able to take the original procedure and get the official license.

The points allotted for respective traffic violations are mentioned below:

  1. Not wearing helmet / seat belt: 1 point
  2. Driving vehicle without insurance / hazardous substances: 2 points
  3. Driving vehicle over-speed / wrong route: 2 points
  4. Drunken driving (two wheelers): 3 points
  5. Drunken driving (four wheelers): 4 points
  6. Drunken driving (Government vehicle): 5 points
  7. Car / Bike race: 3 points
  8. Driving without pollution certificate / parking on the highways: 2 points
  9. If cases are filed under IPC 279, 336, 337, 338 sections: 2 points
  10. If cases are filed under 304 (A), 304 (II): 5 points
  11. Chain snatching and other crimes while driving: 5 points

This penalty point system is yet to be enforced in the state of Telangana. Currently this is under proposal stages.

How to pay Challan for Traffic Penalties in Hyderabad

Challan is an on the spot traffic ticket given by the Hyderabad traffic police. The following process can be followed to track your challan and for paying fines:
