Tata Motors has launched the facelifted Harrier in the Indian market. Apart from the aggressive styling, the SUV has made headlines for its safety. The Tata Harrier has bagged a 5-star safety rating from the Global New Car Assessment Program (GNCAP). It is infact the safest SUV in India.
The SUV scored an impressive 33.05 points out of the maximum 34 points in the adult occupant category. In the child occupant category, the SUV scored 45 points out of the maximum 49 points, which is again a testament to the build quality of the vehicle.
The Tata Harrier gets six airbags as standard, and the top-spec variants also get a driver knee airbag. It also gets a host of safety features like ISOFIX child seat mounts, an Electronic Stability program and much more.

Tata Motors' take on sub-compact sedan with the Tigor. The TATA Tigor safety rating in the adult protection category is 4 stars. As per the observations of the crash test, the Tigor offered good protection to front occupants, while it offered marginal protection for the driver’s and passenger’s chest.
However, the safety rating agency stated that the bodyshell of the Tigor was unstable. But, under the child occupant category, the sub-compact sedan from Tata Motors has rated 3 stars since the child seat installed with the adult belt was able to prevent excessive forward movement.

The Global NCAP tested the 4th generation Honda City that is sold alongside the 5th generation in India. The Honda City safety rating has an impressive 4 stars in the adult occupant category. The rating agency stated that the vehicle offered good protection to the driver and the front passenger’s head and neck.
The 4-door sedan scored marginal protection in the driver and passenger chest and knee protection category. However, the sedan’s bodyshell and footwell were rated unstable during the crash test. In the child occupant category, the sedan scored well with 4 stars as it provided good protection to the head and chest of the child occupant.

In this test, the car moves at a speed of 64 kmph to ensure a 40% overlap with a deformable barrier. The dummies are pre-installed in the car with sensors. Based on the test, the ratings are categorised into Adult and Child Protection scoring. While adult occupant testing has a maximum of 17 points, in child occupant testing the maximum is 49 points. Based on the child and adult occupant testing, the NCAP gives a maximum 5-star rating to the car.
