Tata Motors has launched the facelifted Harrier in the Indian market. Apart from the aggressive styling, the SUV has made headlines for its safety. The Tata Harrier has bagged a 5-star safety rating from the Global New Car Assessment Program (G-NCAP).
The SUV scored an impressive 33.05 points out of the maximum 34 points in the adult occupant category. In the child occupant category, the SUV scored 45 points out of the maximum 49 points, which is again a testament to the build quality of the vehicle.
The Tata Harrier gets six airbags as standard, and the top-spec variants also get a driver knee airbag. It also gets a host of safety features like ISOFIX child seat mounts, an Electronic Stability program and much more.

Tata Motors' take on sub-compact sedan with the Tigor has proved to be safer with its Global NCAP rating of 4 stars in the adult protection category. As per the observations of the crash test, the Tigor offered good protection to front occupants, while it offered marginal protection for the driver’s and passenger’s chest.
However, the safety rating agency stated that the bodyshell of the Tigor was unstable. But, under the child occupant category, the sub-compact sedan from Tata Motors has rated 3 stars since the child seat installed with the adult belt was able to prevent excessive forward movement.

Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus are the No 1 safest cars in India as per the GNCAP safety rating. The sedans scored an impressive 5-star rating by the agency.
As per the Global NCAP rating, cars in India with the highest 5-star ratings are Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Mahindra Scorpio-N, Tata Punch, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Altroz, Tata Nexon and the Mahindra XUV700. Keep in mind that the list might change every time the agency tests a new vehicle.
The latest Maruti Suzuki cars that underwent Global NCAP crash tests are Maruti Suzuki Swift, Maruti Suzuki S-Presso and Maruti Suzuki Ignis.
The crash test done by the GNCAP is not to assess the car if it has passed the test or not. However, it does provide star ratings from zero to a maximum of five based on its crashworthiness.
ABS or Anti-lock Braking System detects loss of traction to a wheel and stops it from locking up, while EBD or Electronic Brake Control offers the right amount of braking for each wheel.
Hyundai i20, Kia Sonet, Kia Seltos, Honda City, Skoda Kushaq, Mahindra XUV300, Mahindra XUV700, Tata Safari and Kia Carens are some of the cars in India with six airbags.
As per GNCAP, the 2023 Maruti Suzuki Alto scored a 2-star rating in the adult occupant category with 21.67 points from the maximum of 34. It scored a zero-star rating in the child occupant category with a score of 3.52 points from the maximum of 49.
As per the GNCAP, the 2023 Maruti Suzuki WagnonR scored a 1-star rating in the adult occupant category with 19.69 points from the maximum of 34. It scored a zero-star rating in the child occupant category with a score of 3.40 points from the maximum of 49.
