RC Transfer Status: How to Transfer Vehicle Ownership in Assam

If you are selling your vehicle in Assam, you must transfer the vehicle ownership or do an RC transfer in the new owner’s name. This ensures that the new owner’s name has been entered in the RTO’s information database.

If the vehicle owner meets an unfortunate demise, then the ownership needs to be transferred on the lawful heir’s name.

In case the vehicle has been auctioned to pay off debts, then the ownership must be transferred to the new owner’s name.

Go to the Parivahan website

Select ‘vehicle related services’ from ‘online service’ section

Next, you need to enter the vehicle registration number, click on ‘proceed’ option and select ‘miscellaneous’

Then, enter your mobile phone number and click on ‘generate OTP’ button

Enter the OTP and click on ‘see details’

Then, you need to click on ‘transfer of ownership’ under ‘application section’

Once you select this option, you will have to enter details like new owner, insurance, and address details

On the payment option, proceed with paying the applicable fee

Once the payment is made, the payment receipt, as well as forms 29 and 30, will be generated

Submit these documents along with all the other documents like RC, insurance, PUC, and other documents

Obtain the necessary documents and NOC from the RTO

Then, fill out the form 29 and 30 with all the necessary details

Get all the required documents verified by the RTO

Then, pay the applicable fees at the RTO

Next, submit the duly-filled application form at the RTO 

Then, you need to get your vehicle inspected by the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI)

Finally, the RTO will verify all the documents and initiate the RC transfer

Then, collect the new RC from the RTO

Go to the official website of Parivahan

Click on ‘online services’ from the menu list

Next, select the ‘Assam’ and the RTO and proceed further

Click on ‘status tab’ and choose ‘know your application status’

Enter the application number along with the captcha

Then, click on ‘submit’ and you will be able to see the transfer status of RC

You must pay the applicable transfer fees and charges

You must verify all the documents before submitting them to the RTO

You must obtain the NOC if the vehicle is registered in any other state

It showcases the legal owner of the vehicle

It reduces the chances of legal complications and any undue penalties

It helps the new owner get access to insurance renewal and other transactions once the RC is transferred on time
