The RTO Indore’s primary responsibility is implementing traffic rules and regulations prescribed under The Motor Vehicles Act. Besides that, it also offers all driver and vehicle-related services to the city’s residents. Following are the important functions of the Indore Regional Transport Office.
Issue Learner’s Licence (LL), Driving Licence (DL) and International Driving Permit (IDP) to eligible applicants.
Provide a duplicate copy of the LL and DL.
Conduct tests for LL and DL applicants.
Make corrections/changes in LL and DL particulars.
Add a new class of vehicle to the DL.
Renew expired LL and DL.
Register all new and old vehicles in its jurisdiction.
Assign permanent and temporary registration numbers to registered vehicles.
Issue Registration Certificate (RC).
Transfer vehicle ownership in RC.
Renew expired RC.
Authorise or terminate hypothecation in RC.
Provide a duplicate copy of the RC.
Determine the mechanical fitness of a vehicle by performing a thorough inspection before issuing an FC or renewing the RC.
Conduct emission tests to ensure the vehicle complies with the emission norms.
Issue permits (National, State, Local, etc.) for vehicles involved in commercial activities.
Renew the expired permits.
The RTO in Indore is also responsible for collecting the road tax from vehicle owners during registration.
It also collects fees for all vehicle-related and driver-related services via cash counter at the RTO or online transaction.
