Haryana has become a leader in automated traffic enforcement under the Smart City and Integrated Command & Control Centre (ICCC) programme. As of 2024, the state’s traffic police and transport departments have installed over 3,500 AI-enabled cameras across Gurugram, Faridabad, Panchkula, and Hisar to detect violations and generate e-challans automatically.

In 2024 alone, Gurugram Police issued more than 17 lakh e challans, collecting ₹130 crore in fines, one of the highest in India. The Haryana e-Challan System, powered by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), integrates live violation feeds with the Vahan & Sarathi databases, enabling motorists to complete an Haryana challan check online through the Parivahan portal, Haryana Traffic Police website, or ACKO.

Frequently asked questions on e challan Haryana

Yes, you can easily do Haryana challan check through the ACKO app.

Yes, you can challan check in Haryana using the vehicle registration number.

If you are caught for overspeeding in Haryana, you will be issued an e-challan. The police constable will give you 60 days to pay the fine from the day of the offence. If the challan is not paid within this time frame, the case will be registered against the traffic offender under 21 Claims Tribunal and the police constable can reach your home. You may also get a summon from the court and will be called to give clarification. Always remember, no traffic police officer has the right to recover a fine from you forcibly. So if you don't want to face any hassle, it is advised that you pay your challan on time.

If you have received an incorrect traffic e-challan, then you have the opportunity to submit a complaint with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This complaint can help get the issue resolved without any further trouble.

To file a complaint against an incorrect e-challan, your first step should be to head to the official portal of e-challan at echallan.parivah.gov.in/gsticket/.

From there, log into your account by entering your name and contact number as well as the e-challan number that was sent to your registered mobile phone number.

After that, you will need to upload some additional proof in order to bolster your case.

Finally, click "Submit" and wait for a response from the traffic police department.

They will review your complaint on their grievance system and provide an update accordingly!

In Haryana, it is not permissible for normal police personnel to cut challans. Only traffic police personnel of and above the rank of head constables are authorised to issue challans for traffic offences.

It is illegal to ride a bike without a helmet. Wearing a helmet can save you from fatal injuries and the government has made this rule for the safety of citizens. People who are found not wearing helmets will be fined Rs. 1,000, which was Rs. 100 earlier. The traffic police office can also suspend the driving licence or seize the vehicle in order to further discourage violations of traffic laws. We can see that Haryana Police are strictly enforcing these regulations and are issuing challans to those who are found violating them.

When a traffic violation is committed, an e-challan is issued that contains various pieces of information pertinent to the situation. This includes the type of violation, the time and place of the violation, vehicle number and its driver's name and address. Photos are also taken as part of the e-challan process.

In addition to these details, an e-challan can display any additional penalties due to multiple violations that were committed. Essentially, an e-challan contains all the necessary information regarding a traffic offence so that payers know what they owe and how to go about settling it right.
