Steps to Pay Telangana Traffic Challan on Parivahan
If you don't pay your traffic challan in Telangana, you will face increasingly harsh consequences. The officer from the Traffic Police will first visit your home registered with them to collect the fine. If you don't pay it this way, you will be taken to court. Your driving license can be suspended until the money is paid if you do not go to court. It is very important that you assume the responsibility for your penalty and settle it within time.
In Telangana, the penalty for very serious or repeated traffic violations is not just a fine; such violations will also earn you penalty points on your driving licence. This is a demerit points system introduced to hold repeat traffic offenders accountable and prevent the issue from escalating to the point of losing the right to operate a motor vehicle. So, below is how things happen:
Each traffic violation earns you some penalty points on your driving license apart from the fine.
Penalty points build up over a span of 2 years, starting from the date of the first violation.
12 or more penalty points within a 2-year period are equivalent to a 1-year suspension of the driving license.
Getting 12 points once again after a suspension is equal to a 2-year suspension.
Learner's licence - Getting 5 or more penalty points will lead to cancellation of the learner’s license.
Penalty points remain in your record for 2 years from the date of violation, and then they expire.
It is possible to reduce up to 3 penalty points through a road safety training program offered by an institution accredited by the Telangana Transport Department.
Important: Suspension of a licence under this system makes any attempt to drive while your licence is suspended an offence of driving without a valid licence, which carries much stiffer penalties.

In case you receive an e-challan that is issued wrongly, either the vehicle or the location is not yours, or the violation did not occur at all, you can file a dispute. To dispute a challan, you have 60 days from the date of issuance, and resolving it takes up to 15 working days.
