It is mandatory to obtain a Driving Licence in Noida or any other city you are in to be able to drive legally as per the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988. Here are a few important points to note when applying for a Noida Driving licence. 

  • You are eligible to get a licence for Gearless Motorcycles with an engine capacity of 50cc or less from when you are 16 years old. 

  • For all other classes of vehicles, you have to have turned 18 years old to apply for a Driving Licence in Noida.

  • In the case of commercial vehicles, you should be at least 20 years old and have a year of experience driving Light Motor Vehicles. 

  • You can apply for a permanent licence only after having a valid learning licence permit for more than 30 days.

The learner's licence is the first step you have to take to get a permanent driving licence in Noida. A learner's licence allows you to learn how to drive either from a licensed driving school or under the guidance of a holder of a permanent driving licence. 

Important Points to Note: 

  • You can only apply for a Learner's Licence online via the government's website

  • You cannot drive a vehicle alone with only a Learner's licence. You have to be accompanied by someone who holds a permanent driving licence. 

  • You have to have an "L" symbol on your vehicle in red to let other commuters know that you are learning to drive. 

  • For private or non-commercial vehicles, it is not a strict requirement to obtain training from a driving school. 

  • For commercial vehicles, it is mandatory to undergo training from either a Government Motor Driving School or a Driving School authorised by the State Government. 

Steps to Apply for a Learner's Licence in Noida

You can follow the steps given below to apply for a Learner's licence in Noida. 

  1. Go to the UP Government's website and click on "Apply for Learner's licence".

  2. Fill in all the required details.

  3. Upload all the documents required. 

  4. Pay the Fees and 

  5. Book a Slot for your Test. 

  6. Take the printout of your Application form, the fee receipt and your appointment and reach the concerned office as per the allotted time. 

  7. Get your documents verified and get your biometrics scanned. 

  8. You can then attend the computerised test and obtain your Learner's licence if you pass it. 

In the event you fail to clear this test, you are eligible to retake the test after a week and will have to repay the test fees.

Once you have had a valid Learner's licence for at least 30 days, you can apply for a permanent Driving Licence in Noida. 

Applying for A Permanent Driving Licence in Noida

As mentioned above, you can apply for a permanent Driving Licence in Noida after having a Learner's Licence for a minimum period of 30 days. If you are confident enough to take the final driving test immediately, you can go ahead with your application for a permanent licence.

If not, don't worry; you can apply for a permanent licence up to 180 days from when your Learner's Licence was issued. 

Steps to Apply for a Permanent Driving Licence in Noida

You can follow the steps below once you are ready to take the final driving test to get your permanent DL. 

  1. Go to the UP Government's website and click on "Apply for Driver's licence".

  2. Fill in all the necessary details as required on the website. Please make sure that all information entered is accurate. 

  3. Upload all the necessary documents (Address Proof and your Learner's licence)

  4. Pay the necessary fees as prescribed and

  5. Book a slot for your driving test. 

  6. Take printouts of your application form, your slot and the fee receipt and reach the concerned offence on time based on the allotted slot. 

  7. Get all your documents verified.

  8. Once your documents have been successfully verified, you can go ahead and take your Driving Skill Test. 

  9. If you pass the test, your application will be approved by the licensing authority, and your Permanent Driving Licence will be sent to the address you have provided in your application. 

In the event you fail to pass the test, you can reattempt the test after a minimum duration of a week by paying the prescribed test fee again.

Steps to Get Your Noida Driving licence Renewed

In case your Driving licence is about to expire or has just expired, you have a grace period of 30 days to get it renewed. To do so, follow the below steps.

  1. Go to the UP Government's website and click on "Apply for DL Renewal".

  2. Fill in all the required information. 

  3. Upload all the required documents.

  4. Pay the renewal fees as per rule 32. 

  5. Your renewed DL will be sent to your given address via post.

For non-commercial vehicles, if you are under the age of 50, you do not require a medical certificate to apply for a learner's licence in Noida. In the case of transport vehicles, a medical certificate is mandatory for all applicants, regardless of age.
