Nagaland: An Overview

Nagaland is a state located in the northeastern part of India. It is one of the smallest states in the country. Agriculture is the main activity in this state. It is also rich in natural minerals, hydropower and petroleum. It is also home to serene landscapes and hill stations. The prominent places to visit in Nagaland include Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung and Mon.

  • Dimapur is the entry point of Nagaland as it is connected by road, rail and air. You can visit the Dimapur Jain Temple and the Kachari ruins in this city.

  • Kohima is the second largest and capital city of Nagaland. You can visit places such as the World War II Cemetery, also called the Cathedral of Reconciliation, the museum and the zoo. It is also known for the Hornbill Festival, held in the first week of December.

  • Mokokchung is the home of the Ao tribe, and the place is known for the Moatsu Festival. The sightseeing places include Chuchuyimlang, Langpangkong, Longkhum and Mopungchukit.

  • Mon gives you an insight into the tattooed warriors and the semi-traditional villages. It also offers a glimpse into the Naga lifestyle and culture.
