The Regional Transport Office (RTO) in Arunachal Pradesh is responsible for assessing and collecting road tax from all vehicle owners.

A vehicle's road tax in Arunachal Pradesh is calculated using the vehicle's length, vehicle type, and weight.

Vehicle Length:

The length of a vehicle is calculated in metres.

The dimension for vehicles and compact trucks is from the front axle to the back wheel.

Larger vehicles, including buses, vans, and tractors, are measured from the rear axle up to the front axle.

Vehicle category refers to a vehicle's function or application.

In Arunachal Pradesh, four vehicles must pay road tax: cars, light trucks, multi-axle carriers, and buses.



To determine the weight for safety purposes, multiply the length by 1.35 metres and add 10%.

A 4-metre, 2-ton vehicle will pay Rs 1200 in road tax each year.

Step1: Go to the official Parivahan website and find “Online Services” and click on “Vehicle Related Services”.

Step2: Select “Arunachal Pradesh” from the list of states.

Step3: Select your RTO where the vehicle is registered and click “Proceed”.

Penalty For Non-payment of Road Tax in Arunachal Pradesh

As per the provisions of the Arunachal Pradesh Motor Vehicles Taxation Act, 1989, any person who plies a motor vehicle on Arunachal Pradesh's roads without paying the prescribed tax shall be liable to pay, on conviction, a fine of not less than INR 500/- but which may extend to INR 5000/-. 

In addition, such a vehicle owner shall also be liable to pay the amount of tax due along with interest thereon at the rate of 1% per month from the date from which such tax was due till the date of its actual payment.
