DigiLocker and mParivahan are among the most useful applications introduced by the Government of India.
These apps eliminate the requirement of carrying certain official documents in their physical forms.
Registered users can simply upload and store important documents (like Driving Licence, Registration Certificate, car/bike insurance certificate, etc.) on these apps and access them digitally whenever required.
This article explains how to upload Driving Licence and Registration Certificate in DigiLocker and mParivahan.
DigiLocker is a digital locker where you can securely store different types of government-issued documents such as your PAN Card, Driving Licence (DL), Voter ID, etc. Every Aadhaar Card holder can create one account and upload their electronic documents. A website and a mobile app are available to benefit from the services of DigiLocker.

Here are the key benefits of using DigiLocker.
You don’t have to carry physical documents like your vehicle’s Registration Certificate, Driving Licence, etc., everywhere if you have uploaded them in the DigiLocker. Via the Digiocker, digital copies of documents and certificates become accessible whenever you need them.
DigiLocker fetches information related to a document directly from the issuing authority or department. This helps to ensure the accuracy of details in your certificates. For instance, in the process of storing your DL, the DigiLocker gets the information straight from the database of the RTO that issued your licence.
There’s no need to worry about forgetting or losing your important documents with a DigiLocker account. Not only does the platform store all your documents safely, it only allows Aadhaar-authenticated access to ensure security.
Many government procedures require applicants to self-attest their documents before sending them. The eSign feature of DigiLocker enables you to electronically add your signature to self-attest documents before sending them to any government agency or organisation.
The following steps will give you a brief idea of how DigiLocker works.
Step 1: Visit the DigiLocker website or app.
Step 2: Sign-up using your mobile number.
Step 3: Complete the Aadhaar verification and syncing process.

Step 5: eSign and share digital copies of your documents with government bodies or institutions, such as the Passport Office, University, RTO office, etc.
