Functions of Indore RTO:
The primary role of the Indore RTO is to regulate the transport system within its jurisdiction or zone by granting or renewing driver or vehicle related documents. The RTO grants learner’s licence to applicants who have held a driving licence to drive a Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) for at least one year.
Yes, it is compulsory to be physically present before the licencing authority to get a LL. Applicants need to appear for a written test and those who pass the test will get the LL.
The mandatory documents to obtain an LL from the RTO are Form 1, 1A and Form 2, address proof documents such as Voter ID, Passport, etc., along with the date of birth certificate such as birth certificate or school certificate.
The mandatory documents required to obtain a duplicate RC are Form 26, the First Information Report (FIR) in case of loss of the RC. If the registration certificate is damaged, then you need to submit the damaged document as well. Additionally, you may have to submit identity proof or address proof to process the application.
The RC for private vehicles is valid for a period of 15 years, while it is 2 years for transport or commercial vehicles which needs to be renewed every year thereafter.

No, it is not mandatory to get your driving licence from a motor driving school. You can visit the RTO or visit the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department web portal to book an online appointment for your licence application.
The LL is valid for a period of six months from the date of issue and is valid across India.
