At this stage, your little one finds a new way to communicate with you, that is clapping, waving or pointing. Your kiddo starts communicating in his own way with smiling or with his first sounds in his early months of life. These are also known as nonverbal communication. He does this, as he wants to be understood by you. Your sweetie pie is almost a year old, and now he might be using all the nonverbal communication tools effectively as waving, pointing and clapping. He might also clap his hands to express his joy and excitement while watching you clapping.

    What you need to know

At this point, you will notice that your little one will start clapping his hands properly. He might also start pointing towards the things he wants or he wants you to see. This happens as your sweetie pie now understands or discovers how to use his hands effectively to communicate with you. It is a great way to understand that your little one is developing his motor skills and vision skills. Vision skills, as he knows now that when he brings his both hands together he can clap. It is also a positive sign that he is heading towards the better physicaldevelopment and he has achieved a milestone.

By the age of 9-10 months almost all the babies learn to clap but if your sweetie pie is not mastered the milestone of clapping, it is not an alarming thing. Try to encourage your kiddo by keeping the communication standards high. You
can also try modeling all such activities as waving and clapping to him and ask him to do so. Also, introduce him the more hand movement games as finger games.
