Mathris are crunchy and delightful and a popular snack item in North Indian households. They are made using whole wheat flour which is rich in potassium, carbohydrates, dietary fibre, protein, Vitamin B6, magnesium, calcium and iron. Here’s an easy recipe with which you can make mathris at home.

Ingredients: 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 tsp ajwain, 1 tsp crushed black pepper, 1 tsp cumin seeds, ¼ tsp baking soda, 2 tbsp ghee, ¾ cup water, salt, oil, few pepper corns.
Steps:
1. In a mixing bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, maida, baking soda, ajwain and salt.
2. Add ghee and mix well.
3. Add water and knead the ingredients into a soft dough.
4. Pinch out the dough in small pieces and shape into mathris.
5. Deep fry in oil and scoop out.
Serve mathris with chai. Easy to prepare, mathris serve as a great snack with tea. So try it out!
