Thotakoora Poriyal is a yummy dish made with chawli leaves. You can whip it up easily. It goes well with rice. Leafy vegetables are very healthy and need to be included in the diet frequently.

3 cups tightly packed chawli (cow pea) leaves, 1 tbsp oil, 1 onion finely chopped, few curry leaves (kadi patta), salt to taste, ½ cup grated coconut, 1 tbsp crushed garlic (lehsun), 1 tsp chili powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder (haldi), 1 tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
1. In a pan, heat oil.
2. Add the cumin seeds and wait for it to crackle.
3. Add garlic and onion and fry till the onion turns translucent.
4. Add the chawli leaves and cook till the leaves wilt.
5. Add turmeric powder and chili powder.
6. Add grated coconut. Mix well.
7. Turn off heat and serve hot.
The poriyal goes well with rice.
