Rasam is a very healthy dish. Mango rasam is full of fibers, protein, carbohydrates, potassium, vitamin C, K and B3. It can be eaten with rice, idli, dosa or chapati. You can even just slurp it down like soup!

Ingredients: 2 tomatoes, 1 cup toor daal, 1 raw mango, 1 dry chilli, 4-5 pepper corns, 1 tsp coriander seeds, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 2-3 garlic pods, 1 inch ginger, handful of curry leaves, salt as per taste, 1 tsp oil
Steps:
1. Dry roast black pepper, whole coriander seeds and cumin seeds. Grind them together. This is rasam powder.
2. Pressure cook toor daal with sliced mango, salt and turmeric powder for 15 minutes.
3. Peel tomatoes, ginger, garlic and grind to smooth paste, keep it aside.
4. Heat oil in a wok, add mustard seeds, whole dry red chilli and curry leaves. After mustard spluttering, add the ground mixture and fry till oil separates.
5. Now, add cooked dal, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes.
Serve it hot with rice or chapati.
Note: You can use ready made rasam powder too.
