Oats Chakkara Pongal is a sweet classic South Indian delicacy made from oats, moong dal, and jaggery is a healthy breakfast option. It is rich in protein and fiber.
Contents
1 cup oats, 1/4 cup moong dal, 3/4 cup jaggery, ½ tsp cardamom powder, 1 tbsp ghee, water 3 cups, 10-12 cashews, 10-12 raisins
1. Dry roast oats and moong dal separately.
2. Add 2 cups of water to the pan and cook until the moong dal is done.
3. Now add roasted oats to the pan, and give a quick stir. Add more water if required. Add cardamom powder and mix well.
4. Heat ghee in a pan and fry cashews and raisins separately.
5. Heat a pan with remaining ½ cup of water, add the jaggery and stir until is melted. Turn off the flame and strain.
6. Check if oats are fully cooked then add jaggery syrup. Keep stirring until the water evaporates completely.
7. Add fried cashews and raisins. Mix well.
Serve hot.
