Road Tax in Bangalore

The city of Bangalore boasts a road network of over 10000 km. Being the country's tech capital, it attracts people from all over, leading to a rise in traffic density year after year.

The mandatory road tax in Bangalore is levied on vehicle owners by the State Government to manage and expand the road infrastructure. The construction of newer roads helps the state to manage this traffic density, which ushers in commercial profit for the city.

Bangalore Road Tax Calculation

The State of Karnataka establishes tax slabs for all vehicles in Bangalore by considering various parameters such as a vehicle's seating capacity, engine cubic capacity, fuel type, cost of the vehicle, intended use (private or commercial), and age.

The vehicle's age is only considered when registering an older vehicle in Bangalore or when moving your vehicle to Bangalore from another state.

Though no vehicle is fully exempt from paying road taxes, you do get a partial concession on paying road taxes if you are physically handicapped. To be eligible for the same, you should be able to prove a physical disability of over 40% with relevant medical documents.
