Requisites: Papers, crayons and any textured surface that is flat like a cane mat or a yoga mat.
Steps:
1. Choose a textured surface like a yoga mat and ask your child to touch it and make observations. You can ask questions like is it rough or smooth? You can explain to him the difference between rough, smooth, even and uneven. This adds to his knowledge of various surfaces.
2. Place a paper on the mat and ask him to colour randomly with a crayon.
3. Seeing the beautiful patterns emerging out it will excite him. You can also tell him why and how the patterns are formed.
With simple supplies from home and a twist to his colouring session, he builds his vocabulary and develops sensory skills. You can make it more interactive by making him feel different objects like a marble, glass, a towel, etc.
