Your child now knows how to read your expressions very well. In several instances you will notice your child looking at you and then responding to the situation at hand.

This indicates that he is picking up his responses from you. For example, if there is a loud rumble of thunder, just continue with what you are doing calmly. Any alarm in your eyes or manner will instantly be picked up by your ever-alert child. If you display strength and composure, these traits will be developed in your child as well.
Positive handling- If your child is already afraid of the dark, do not make a fuss about it and do not compel him to go into a dark room if he refuses to. Rather, go with him into the room on the pretext of getting something you want. Hold his hand until he is willing to let go and follow you. Soon he will go on his own.
Positive fears- Fear is not always a bad thing. Positive fears such as fear of strangers or fear of fire are actually important life lessons that every child needs to learn. But it is important that such fears are taught and inculcated logically by explaining to the child how they can be dangerous or harmful.
Keep in mind the age of your child, and make sure he is old enough to understand the reasoning behind what you tell him.
