An easy and healthy breakfast/snack dish, Whole Wheat Bread Upma has all the goodness of bread, onion, and tomato. Flavoured with ghee, curry leaves and sambhar masala, this upma tastes fantastic. Bread has the required carbohydrates while the veggies have vital vitamin and minerals. Curry leaves provide carbohydrates, fibre and also vitamin and minerals like vitamin A, B, C, E, iron and calcium. All in all, this recipe is highly nutritious.

    Ingredients to make Whole Wheat Bread Upma:

    2 bread (whole wheat), 1 onion, 1 tomato, ¼ tsp ginger, a pinch of turmeric,1 tsp mustard seeds, 2-3 curry leaves, ½ tsp sambhar masala, 1 tsp ghee, salt to taste

    Steps to make Whole Wheat Bread Upma:

    1. Cut the whole wheat bread into small squares.

    2. In a pan, add ghee. Once the ghee is warm, add the finely chopped onion. Saute for 2 minutes.

    3. Add the finely chopped ginger, curry leaves and turmeric. Saute for 2 mins.

    4. Once the onion is soft, add the finely chopped tomato. Add the sambhar masala too.

    5. Saute the onion tomato mixture till the tomato pieces gets soft.

    6. Add salt. Add the cut bread squares.

    7. Give a good mix till the mixture gets coated well onto the bread squares.

    Yummy whole wheat bread upma is ready for your child to relish. Serve warm.
