A tamarind spiced drink, Amlana when served chilled is an ideal drink on a sunny afternoon. The main ingredient is tamarind, which is flavoured with spices like black pepper, cardamom powder, and salt. Tamarind is a good source of fibre and protein.
Contents
2 tbsp tamarind, ½ cup powdered sugar, ¼ tsp ground black pepper, ¼ tsp cardamom powder, ½ tsp black salt, salt to taste, 5-6 mint leaves
1. In a vessel, add tamarind in 1 cup water. Stir well and let the mixture rest for about 2 hours.
2. Put the above mixture in a blender and blend till you get a smooth pulp.
3. Strain the tamarind pulp.
4. Add rest of the ingredients except mint leaves.
5. Add 3 cups of water to the spiced mixture.
6. Keep the Amlana in the refrigerator for an hour.
Chilled Amlana is ready. Garnish with mint leaves and enjoy this delicious drink.
