Besan ki Machhli is a vegetarian fish curry that is made from gram flour. Don't go by its name! It does not contain fish! Make it today as it is entirely rich in protein and extremely tasty.

Ingredients to make Besan ki Machhli:

1 cup besan, ¼ tsp. haldi powder, 1 tbsp. garlic paste, 2 tbsp. mustard paste, 1 tsp. red chilli powder, 1 tomato chopped, 1 tsp. methi, ½ tsp. mustard seeds, ½ tsp. coriander powder, mustard oil as required, salt to taste and water as required.

Steps to make Besan ki Machhli:

1. Prepare a medium consistency of besan batter with water. add turmeric and a little garlic paste and whisk well.

2. Heat a frying pan and grease the pan with oil and pour about 1 tbsp. of the batter and spread evenly.

3. When one side is done, fold it into 3 layers and cut it into 3-4 pieces on the pan itself.

4. Cook for few minutes turning bhabhri pieces occasionally.

5. Heat oil in a big pan or kadahi, allow mustard and methi seeds to crackle, add garlic and mustard paste.

6. Stir till the raw smell goes away. Add haldi, tomato, coriander powder, chilli powder and salt and cook till the tomatoes are mashy.

7. Add a cup of water and allow the curry to boil for 5 minutes. Add the bhabhri pieces in the thickened gravy.
