This is indeed a traditional food art practiced for around four decades. But it is totally worth trying out at home. Though sugar has no nutritional value, it breaks down into glucose, which keeps your child energetic throughout the day.

Ingredients to make Bombay Mitthai:
2 cups sugar, 2 tbsp. water or just enough to mix the sugar, 1 lemon juice, 2 tbsp. Complan/Bournvita, ghee to grease the tray, a pinch of red food colour (optional)
Steps to make Bombay Mitthai:
1. Combine sugar, water and lemon juice in a thick bottomed vessel and heat the mixture stirring constantly, when the sugar dissolves reduce the flame and stir continuously.
2. Mix Complan or Bournvita in water in a cup and add to the sugar mixture and stir constantly.
3. Take some water in a cup and test for the sugar consistency. Drop the sugar mixture into the water and take and form a lump and pull. If it comes our perfectly switch off the flame
4. Pour the sugar mixture immediately on the ghee greased plate when it is still warm transfer it to a polythene sheet and take small lump, add the red food colour and keep pulling the sugar lump and fold till the colour blends well in it and keep aside. Take the other lump and keep pulling it and folding as many times as possible to get the chewing gum consistency.
5. Be creative and make flowers, dolls, and watches with the red colour and the other normal color.
