Crunchy Rice

Rice is rich in carbohydrates. You can prepare yummy Crunchy Rice for your little one. The dish is quick and simple to prepare and tastes awesome when tempered with different dals and coconut.

    Ingredients to make Crunchy Rice:

    ½ cup basmati rice, ½ tsp channa dal, ½ tsp urad dal, 1-2 peanuts, 1 tsp grated coconut, 1 tsp oil, ¼ tsp cumin, salt as per taste, 1 cup water

    Steps to make Crunchy Rice:

    1. Wash and soak the basmati rice in water for 20 minutes. Drain the water and keep rice aside.

    2. In a kadai, put ½ tsp oil. Add the urad dal, peanuts and channa dal. Saute for 2 minutes.

    3. Grind the dals and peanuts to a coarse powder.

    4. In the same kadai, saute the grated coconut for 2 minutes. Keep aside.

    5. In a pressure pan, add the remaining oil. Once warm, add cumin. Once it emits an aroma, add the basmati rice and saute for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup water, salt and pressure cook for 2 whistles.

    6. Allow the rice to cool down. Transfer in a plate and add the dal and peanuts powder. Add the grated coconut too. Mix very well.

    Crunchy rice is all ready to be relished by your child. Enjoy!
