For the kofta: 1 cup soaked chana dal, 1 tsp - hot oil, Salt to taste, oil for frying
For the gravy: 1 – Onion, 2 – Tomatoes, 1 tsp - Ginger - Garlic paste, Salt to taste, 1 tbsp - coriander powder, 1 tbsp - cumin powder, ½ tsp - Turmeric powder, oil for cooking
1. Make a thick paste of the soaked dal, salt, and 1 tsp of hot oil.
2. Make small balls from this mixture and deep fry. Drain and keep aside.
3. In another pan, heat 2 to 3 tbsps of oil. Add the onion paste and ginger - garlic paste, and fry it till it turns brown.
4. Add pureed tomatoes, all the spices and salt. Cook for 3-4 mins on medium heat.
5. Add 2 cups of water and the fried koftas. Simmer for 3-4 mins and serve hot.
