Green Tomato Kadhi

Try out this tangy and spicy kadhi. It is a unique recipe and tastes really yumm. Green tomatoes contain protein, calcium, potassium,magnesium, phosphorus and vitamin K.

    Ingredients to make Green Tomato Kadhi:

    3 cups chopped green tomatoes , 1 cup grated coconut, 2-3 chopped green chiles, 2 tsp oil, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp asafoetida, 8-10 curry leaves, ¼ tsp sugar, salt – to taste, 3 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

    Steps to make Green Tomato Kadhi:

    1. Add tomatoes, coconut, green chiles along with 1½ cups of water and pressure cook for 2-3 whistles.

    2. Allow to cool down.Once completely cooled blend with 1½ cup of water in a blender till it gets smooth.

    3. Strain the mixture in a deep bowl using a strainer and keep aside.

    4. Heat the oil in a deep kadhai and add the mustard seeds. Let it splutter.

    5. Add cumin seeds, asafoetida and curry leaves and saute for 30 seconds.

    6. Add the already prepared tomato-coconut puree, sugar, salt. Simmer on low heat for 7-8 minutes.

    7. Garnish with coriander leaves.

    Serve hot with rice or roti.
