Hung Curd Sandwiches

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Hung curd sandwich is a very healthy easy to make recipe. You can pack this in lunch box as it stays fresh for 4-5 hours, just make sure that the curd you use is not very sour. Adding curd in sandwiches gives the taste of cheese while you gain calcium and vitamins.

Ingredients:  8 slices of bread, ¾ cup hung curd( from 1 1/2 cup curd), 1 onion chopped, 1 tomato chopped (remove seeds), ½ capsicum chopped, ½ carrot grated, 1 green chilly chopped, 1 tbsp finely chopped fresh coriander leaves, salt to taste, 1/8 tsp red chilly powder, 1/8 tsp chaat masala, ¼ tsp oregano (optional), olive oil/butter/ghee to grease the bread lightly.

    Steps:

    1. Take all the chopped vegetables in a wide pan, add hung curd to it.

    2. Mix all the spices and salt, stir properly, grease bread slices on one side. Apply a thick layer of hung curd mixture on the breads.

    3. Grill it in a sandwich maker or Tawa.

    4. Serve it with green chutney or tomato ketchup.

    Your lunch box is ready!

Note: To make hung curd, hang 1 and 1/2  cup of regular curd in a muslin cloth in a strainer. Keep a bowl under strainer to collect the liquid. Keep it in the fridge for 3-4 hour so that it does not turn sour. Once the liquid separates from the curd and you get a thick cheese like curd.
