Jam Kozhukattai

It is a light sweet and steamed dish made from rice flour stuffed with jam. A unique twist to a traditional South Indian dessert.

    Ingredients to make Jam Kozhukattai:

    ½ cup rice flour, 1/4 cup powdered sugar, 1 cup jam, 1 tsp gingelly oil

    Steps to make Jam Kozhukattai:

    1. Take a heavy bottom pan and add water and sugar together. Let the sugar dissolve in the water completely.

    2. When the sugar dissolves and a boil comes then add rice flour and stir it slowly and slowly.

    3. Keep stirring till the lumps are clear and you get a smooth mixture.

    4. Stir the mixture till you get a soft and smooth dough in the pan.

    5. Now, turn off the gas and let the mixture cool down.

    6. Grease your hands with the oil and start taking small size balls out of the dough.

    7. Press each ball and then make a hole in between and lace some jam in the center of each ball.

    8. Now prepare the steamer and keep these balls on a greased plate of the steamer.

    9. Steam them for 15 minutes till they turn shiny.

    Remove them from the steamer and let them cool down a bit.
