Kachchi Haldi Ka Halwa

Raw turmeric is rich in vitamins and minerals. It’s a good source of vitamin B6 and minerals like calcium, iron and potassium. With jaggery and wheat flour, both of which are rich in carbohydrates, you can prepare a sweet dish called Kachchi Haldi ka Halwa. Flavour this halwa with dry fruits and it tastes awesome.

    Ingredients to make Kachchi Haldi Ka Halwa:

    ¼ cup raw turmeric, ¼ cup jaggery, ½ cup wheat flour, 1 cup milk, 1 tbsp ghee/clarified butter, 1 tbsp dry fruits

    Steps to make Kacchi Haldi Ka Halwa:

    1. In a pan, put ½ tsp ghee. Add the dry fruits like cashews, raisins, and saute for 2 minutes.

    2. Peel and grate the raw turmeric. In ½ tsp ghee, roast turmeric on a medium flame for about 10 minutes till the raw flavour goes.

    3. In a kadai, add the remaining ghee. Once warm, add the wheat flour and saute till light golden brown.

    4. Add milk and stir, followed by adding the crushed jaggery as well.

    5. Stir well till the mixture gets a smooth texture, with no lumps. This will take 3-4 minutes.

    Garnish with dry fruits. Kacchi Haldi Ka Halwa is ready to enjoy. Serve warm.
