For pressure cooking: 1 tbsp ghee, ½ cup moong dal, ½ cup rice, 3 cups water. Other ingredients: 2 tbsp ghee, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 inch ginger finely chopped, few curry leaves, pinch of hing, water as required
1. In a pressure cooker, heat ghee and add the washed dal and rice. Saute for 2 minutes and add 3 cups of water.
2. Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles till the rice and dal gets cooked. Keep aside.
3. In a kadai, heat ghee and add cumin seeds, hing, ginger and curry leaves. Saute till the raw smell of ginger disappears.
4. Add the rice and dal to the above tempering and mix well.
5. Add salt and enough water to get a smooth watery consistency. Simmer for 5 minutes and serve hot.
