Idli with a Twist

Pearl Millet, also known as Idli with a Twist, is a wholesome healthy ingredient that is rich in nutrients and dietary fibre. You can use this ingredient and give a twist to the normal idlis that you make. It can be prepared using pearl millet and urad dal.



    Ingredients to make Pearl Millet/Idli with a Twist:

    1.5 cup Pearl Millet, half cup rice, half cup urad dal, salt as required

    Steps to make Pearl Millet/ Idli with a Twist:

    1. Wash and soak the rice and pearl millet(together) and urad dal (separately) for 4-5 hours.

    2. Grind the rice and pearl millet to a thick paste. The batter should not be watery.

    3. Grind the urad dal too and mix with the rice/pearl millet batter.

    4. Add salt and keep for fermentation for 6 hours.

    5. Give the batter a very good mix. Grease the idli mould and fill the moulds with the batter.

    6. Steam cook for about 10 minutes.

    Delicious and highly nutritious idli with a twist is ready to be relished. Enjoy!
