Perad or Guava Cheese is a well known Goan delicacy. You can serve this in two ways. It can be eaten for breakfast on toast when it's not fully cooked or as a dessert when fully cooked. Guava is rich in vitamin C, fiber, and health-benefitting phytonutrients.

1 cup ripe guavas pulp, ¾ cup sugar, ½ tbsp. of lemon juice, 1 tbsp. butter
1. Boil water in a large pan. Add the washed guavas and cook until they are tender. Drain the water and reserve them for further use.
2. Once the guavas are bit warm slit the guavas and scoop out the seeds.
3. Boil the seeds with ½ cup of the reserved water.
4. Make guava puree and pass through mesh sieve and collect the pulp. Do the same with seeds after they are boiled.
5. Take a heavy bottomed pan and transfer the pulp and sugar into it and cook on medium flame and stir constantly to prevent it from burning at the bottom.
6. After about 10 minutes when the mixture starts bubbling add in the lemon juice and continue stirring.
7. After 10-15 minutes when the mixture begins to thicken add butter and keep stirring till the mixture leaves the edges of the pan.
8. To test whether it is done, drop a little mixture into ice cold water and form a ball.
9. When you can form a ball, switch off the flame, and immediately spread on a well-greased plate and cut it into desired shapes when it is cooled a bit.
10. Store them in airtight container.
Offer your kid this snack to enjoy the taste of guava.
