Raw Papaya Cubes

Colourful candied Raw Papaya Cubes is popularly known as Tutti Frutti in common places. It is a famous dessert. Papaya is loaded with the most essential minerals and micronutrients important for the body.

Ingredients to make Raw Papaya Cubes:

1 cup washed, peeled and cut into small cubes of raw papaya, 2 cups melted and filtered jaggery, ½ tsp. vanilla essence and 2 drops of different food colours, 7 cups water

Steps to make Raw Papaya Cubes:

1. Heat 4 cups of water in a pan and add papaya cubes and boil for 6-7 minutes or until the papaya turns translucent.

2. Strain and collect the semi cooked papaya cubes in a bowl and keep it aside.

3. In a heavy bottomed pan add the melted jaggery and add the semi cooked papaya and bring to boil and cook till you get string syrup.

4. Turn off the gas flames and add vanilla extract and give a quick stir.

5. Depending upon the availability of food colours, divide the papaya mix in the bowls and add 2 drops of food colour and give a good stir and let it rest for 12 hours for the colour to get absorbed well.

6. Collect the cubes in a kitchen napkin and gently press to absorb excess moisture.

7. Spread the cubes on a clean kitchen cloth and let them dry completely. Once the cubes are not sticking to each other, then it is dried and store them in an air-tight container in the fridge.

You can offer them as it is or add them in sweet dishes.
