Sel Roti

Sel Roti is one of the most uniquel Nepali dishes, a sweet rice bread, distinct from any other breads of the world. It is easy to make, delicate, and enjoyable. Rice is a good source of B complex vitamins, good source of high energy, contains useful protein, and is easy to digest.



    Ingredients to make Sel Roti:

    ½ cup rice, 2 tbsp. sugar, 2 tbsp. ghee, 1 tbsp. rice flour, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, 2 tbsp water, water for soaking rice, cooking oil for deep frying

    Steps to make Sel Roti:

    1. Wash and soak the rice overnight. Drain the excess water from the rice next day.

    2. Blend the rice to a fine paste using grinder or mixer.

    3. Collect the paste in a bowl and add sugar, ghee, rice flour and cardamom powder to it.

    4. Gradually add about 1-2 tablespoon water to the above mixture and whisk well till sugar dissolves completely. Batter should be of a thick consistency.

    5. Heat oil in a pan. Using a ladle, pour the batter in a circle shape into the hot oil.

    6. Let it cook on one side on medium flame. Flip it to the other side using a tong. Fry till it gets light golden brown from both sides.

    7. Remove and drain on an absorbent paper.

    8. Store them in an air tight container once they cool down completely.

    You can offer Sel Roti with any beverages.
