Shavige cups

Shavige cup is quite a versatile recipe, it can be made for breakfast, as a light dinner or a quick evening snack. It is packed with calories, fat, protein, vitamins and minerals.

    Ingredients to make Shavige Cup:

    1½ cup roasted vermicelli, 2 tsp. cooking oil, 1 tsp.ghee, ½ onion chopped, ¼ tsp. mustard seeds, ¼ tsp. urad dal, ¼ tsp. channa dal, ¼ tsp. cashew nuts, 6-7 curry leaves, 1 green chilli slit, 1 red chilli,1 small carrot grated or cut into very small bites, 2 tbsp. fresh green peas, 1¾ cup water, salt to taste, ½ tsp. lemon juice

    Steps to make Shavige Cup:

    1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Fry the urad dal, channa dal, cashew nuts, red chilli and curry leaves till there are golden brown.

    2. Add the onions and sauté on a low flame add green chilli, peas and sauté for few minutes and add carrot and cook on low flame.

    3. Add water and salt and bring the water to a boil.

    4. Add the roasted vermicelli, mix everything, close the lid and reduce the flame to the lowest setting. Cook till all the water is absorbed.

    5. Switch off; gently toss with a fork to separate each string. Garnish with ghee.

    Serve the prepared dish in a cup to enjoy the healthy noodles.
