Many of us are fond of cakes and pastries, some demand it everyday. If you are looking for some healthy cake recipes, you are at right place. This whole wheat sponge fluffy cake is lip smackingly good. Wheat is a good source of fiber and minerals. It builds strength and immunity.

    Ingredients to make Steamed Sponge Cake:

    1 cup wheat flour, 1/4 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp baking soda,1 tsp vanila extract, 1/4 cup butter, 1 tin condensed milk, 1/4 cup milk, sugar if required

    Steps to make Steamed Sponge Cake:

    1. Step up your steamer with enough water.

    2. In a bowl, add whole wheat flour, vanilla extract, condensed milk and milk to make a thick batter.

    3. Whisk briskly until all the ingredients are combined. The batter should be thick and lump free.

    4. Add baking powder and baking soda. Whisk gently for 10 seconds to ensure that the baking powder and soda are fully combined with the batter.

    5. Do not over work the batter as it will leave you with a very dense cake.

    6. Quickly pour the batter into a greased cake tin lined with parchment paper. Spread the batter evenly.

    7. Steam for 30 minutes. Open the steamer and probe with a toothpick, if it comes clean, it's done.

    Serve the steamed cake hot or at room temperature. You can also serve it with a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup.
