Namak Pare

A crispy, yummy and fried snack is Namak Pare. It is made of wheat flour, which has all the valuable carbohydrates. Adding little rava makes the snack crisp. You can flavour the dough with ajwain, cumin seeds and black pepper. These ingredients are rich in dietary fibre, vital vitamin and minerals.

You can bind the dough with milk, which is a good source of calcium and your baby would love it for sure.

Ingredients to make Namak Pare:

1/2 cup wheat flour, 2 tbsp rava, ¼ tsp ajwain, ¼ tsp black pepper, ¼ tsp cumin seeds, salt as per taste, ¼ cup milk, 1 tsp ghee, oil for deep frying

Steps to make Namak Pare:

1. In a bowl, add the wheat flour, rava, ajwain, crushed black pepper, cumin seeds, salt and ghee. Mix well.

2. Add milk and make the mixture into a firm but smooth dough. Add a tsp of oil on the dough and knead the dough for a minute.

3. Take a part of the dough and make a flat ball shape.

4. Roll the dough using rolling pin.

5. Using a fork, prick the rolled dough. This will not let the namak pare to puff up while frying.

6. You can cut the rolled dough into criss cross shapes (diamond shape).

7. Heat oil in a kadai. Once warm, add the diamond shape namak pare one by one. Fry them on both sides till they turn light golden brown.
