Rava Idli

You can prepare these quick, instant hot steamed Rava Idlis using simple ingredients like rava and curd. This carbohydrate rich breakfast or snack recipe does not need any grinding or fermentation.



    Ingredients to make Rava Idli:

    1 cup rava, ½ cup curd, 5 to 10 cashews, 1 carrot, 3-4 sprigs of coriander, salt as required, ½-1 cup water, 1 tsp oil

    Steps to make Rava Idli:

    1. In a pan, dry roast the rava for about 3-4 mins. Transfer the rava to a mixing bowl and allow to cool.

    2. In the same pan, add 1 tsp oil and saute the finely chopped cashews for 1 min.

    3. To the rava, add beaten curd and salt. Adjust the consistency of the batter by adding water. The batter should not be too thick or thin.

    4. Add the finely chopped coriander leaves and cashews.

    5. Give a good mix to the batter. Keep aside for 20 minutes.

    6. If the batter has got little thick as rava absorbs water, adjust by adding little water.

    7. Grease the ildi moulds and pour the batter.

    8. Steam the idlis in an idli steamer for about 10-12 mins on high flame.

    9. Swtich off the flame and after 2 mins of cooling, remove the idlis.

    Hot and yummy Rava Idlis are ready to be relished by your child. Serve with chutney. Enjoy.
