Soft Sajjige

Soft Sajjige, which is made using simple ingredients like rava, sugar and ghee, which are a good source of carbohydrates and fats. You can flavour this sweet by adding ginger, onion and curry leaves, which are rich in vitamins and minerals.

    Ingredients to make Soft Sajjige:

    ¼ cup rava, 1 tsp ghee, 4 tbsp sugar, ¼ tsp ginger and urad dal, 2-3 pieces of finely chopped onion, 1-2 cashews, 2-3 curry leaves finely chopped, ¾ th cup water

    Steps to make Soft Sajjige:

    1. Boil 3/4th cup water.

    2. In a kadai, add ½ tsp ghee. Once warm, add urad dal, curry leaves and ginger. Saute for 1 minute.

    3. Add the onion. Saute for 2 mins.

    4. Add the rava and saute till its light brown and emits a fragrant aroma.

    5. Add the boiling water carefully. Stir well so that no lumps are there. Add sugar. Mix well. Switch off the flame once the sugar gets dissolved. Avoid over cooking otherwise the texture of sajjige will change.

    6. In a small pan, add the remaining ghee and saute cashews till light brown. Pour on top of the sajjige and the sweet is ready. Enjoy!
