In second grade, your child is now into more of writing- compositions, punctuations, spellings, etc. While developing compositions, let your kid plan in a sequence the events like what will happen in the story? In what order events will occur? How the story ends? etc. The five finger technique is a wonderful way to help your child build compositions. Follow the steps below to make the most of this interesting activity-
Using five finger technique for composition
1. To introduce the five finger technique, start with a closed hand. Open one finger at a time as you re-tell each story event in sequence.
2. You can start with a familiar tale like the Red Riding Hood one. In the start, Red Riding Hood goes to visit her grand mother who is sick. On the way she meets a wolf. Next, the wolf goes ahead of her and disguises in the form of her grand mother. Then she notices her grand mother is in the bed having big ears ,eyes and teeth. A woodsman comes and kills the wolf and Red Riding Hood is saved.
3. Five fingers and five pointers of the story. During the process, use words like "first", "next", "then", "afterwards" and "finally" to create a clear sequence of events.
This activity helps your kid master the art of story-telling in the simplest way possible.
As you celebrate your child’s key milestones in their development, it is also essential to consider their future security and well-being.
