This is a science activity which would surely amuse your child, at this age. The task gives a good knowledge about charged particles. Make sure your child is observing this demonstration without losing focus.
Requisites: A comb, woolen cloth and flowing water.
Steps:
1. Find a source of flowing water. You can use a water tap for this task.
2. Take a medium sized comb and rub it on a woolen cloth. This would charge the comb.
3. Now immediately after charging bring the comb in contact with flowing water under the tap.
4. You would observe that the flowing water changes path away from the comb. The charge in the comb repels the water.
Ask your child to perform this activity to understand it better. There are similar activities on charge, which can be demonstrated using household items.
