Your Baby Is Likely To Learn Polite Words

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your baby now begins to understand that other's feelings are important just like his. It is important to teach him good manners at an early age. In this way he will be able to build strong social skills, be it at home or out. Social graces like 'please', ‘thank you', 'greeting elders' etc. can be taught in day to day conversations to your child.

    What you need to know

By being consistent and modelling the right behaviour yourself, your child at this point, will learn to be polite, courteous and friendly which will help him handle social situations better. In day to day interactions, teach your child how to say 'thank you', 'please' etc. For instance, if he has got a new toy from his grandmother, you can teach him, “When you get a gift, what do you say”? We say, “Thank you”. In case you have planned a playdate at his friend’s home, before leaving, you can tell him, “We share toys and have to be polite by saying, 'please', 'thank you' to friends. When you see him thoughtful and polite around other children, praise his behaviour.
