Your Child is Becoming More Assertive Now- Can There Be a Downside Of It?

Team AckoFeb 8, 2024

Your child has crossed the two years milestone already, and has now become even more assertive. But your child’s defiance really results from the tug-of-war between their desire for independence and continuous need for help. What they are doing again and again is testing their limits.

    What you need to know

Along with independence comes expanded language skills. Your child can now speak in short sentences and has become more purposeful, telling you what he needs or wants. Your child is also beginning to understand abstract concepts. Your child can ask for more milk, and inquire about whether they can go to bed later. But they still don’t understand what next month or next year means.

    What you need to do

Your child can form images in their mind, and organize their toys by size, or color, or shape. Your child’s memory is improving and they may be able to tell you at the end of the day what he had for lunch. Children are energetic little people, so look for toys and activities that give yours a way to channel their energy. Also look for toys that challenge your child’s developing mind.
