Volkswagen Car Insurance – Buy/Renew Online - Acko

In this article, you will learn about Volkswagen car insurance, its benefits, the claim procedure, car insurance premium calculator and how to buy Volkswagen car insurance online.

Types of Volkswagen Car Insurance:

Car insurances are primarily divided into two types, they are:

  • Third-Party Car Insurance: Under this type of car insurance, it covers only the liabilities of the third-party and not own-damage liabilities.
  • Comprehensive Car Insurance: A comprehensive vehicle insurance policy includes own-damage liabilities as well as third-party liabilities.

Why You Should Insure Your Volkswagen Car?

Apart from insurance policy for your Volkswagen car being mandatory as per the Motor Vehicle Act, it also protects you from any unexpected liabilities in case of an unfortunate accident. Insuring your car offers the peace of mind that your vehicle, as well as the third party, are covered in case of a mishap.

Volkswagen Car Insurance Renewal:

Digital transactions in the country are on the rise and insurance companies have harnessed the technology to offer better products and services. While the traditional offline methods are offered by insurers, online renewal of car insurance is increasingly being used across the industry. Below are the two different ways you can renew Volkswagen car insurance:

  1. Online: You can buy or renew the insurance for your Volkswagen online. This is applicable for both third-party and comprehensive insurance cover.
  2. Offline: You could also purchase the insurance for your Volkswagen vehicle through several offline channels such as agents and any of the respective insurance company’s branches.

Renew Expired Policy for Volkswagen Car:

Has your car’s insurance lapsed or expired? The process to renew an expired policy for your Volkswagen car is simple and easy. You can renew it online or offline. New-age digital insurance providers have made the process of renewal simple through online renewal.

You can visit the website of the insurance company and renew the policy by providing the details of your vehicle, paying the premium and receiving the policy document to your email ID. Or, you could visit any of the branches of the insurance company and renew the policy.

Add-On Covers for Volkswagen Car Insurance:

The basic car insurance plan — the third-party cover — does not offer much except to cover the third-party only. The comprehensive insurance policy might even miss out on some crucial aspects of coverage. Add-On covers are like extended coverage providing the much needed additional benefits to your Volkswagen car. There are several Add-On covers, so choose the suitable Add-ons which can increase your basic car insurance coverage.

Based on your needs, choose the right Add-Ons which will cover your vehicle. You have to pay extra premium if you choose to include Add-Ons to your basic policy. Below are the Add-On covers that you may want to bundle with your basic policy:

Zero Depreciation:

Popularly known as a bumper to bumper or nil depreciation car insurance, it covers all the cost towards external body replacement or repairs without depreciating the value of car parts. This Add-On is provided along with the comprehensive car insurance and not with the third-party vehicle insurance.

Engine Protection Cover:

The replacement or repair cost of your car engine could be expensive. Whether it’s damaged due to the leakage of lubricating oil or due to water ingression or physical damage like the gearbox, the car Engine Protection Cover comes to your rescue. You don’t have to pay for such damages to the car engine and the Engine Protection Cover is quite beneficial during these circumstances.

NCB (No Claim Bonus) Protection:

The NCB is a discount offered by the insurance company for not raising any claim during the policy period. The discount can go up to 50% of the premium based on the age of the vehicle. Hence, the NCB Protection Add-On protects the NCB even if you raise a claim during the policy period. You need to pay an additional premium to include this Add-on to your basic comprehensive car insurance. Although you have to pay an extra premium, you may avail up to 50% discount on the next premium despite raising a claim.

Consumables Cover:

Insurance providers do not cover certain parts such as consumables when you raise a claim for accident-related repairs. The consumables cover as an Add-on to your comprehensive car insurance will enable you to claim for these expenses as well. Similar to other Add-Ons, consumables cover also requires additional premium; however, you need to not worry about any payment towards consumables.

Invoice Protection/Return to Invoice:

Also known as Return to Invoice, Invoice Protection Add-on provides sum insured up to the invoice value of the vehicle and not at the prevailing market value. In case your vehicle is stolen or there is a complete loss due to fire, etc. you can get up to the invoice value of your vehicle.

Accessories Cover:

Accessories fitted to your vehicle which are of higher value like high-end instrument console or reverse camera can be covered under the Accessories Cover Add-on. You may also choose to include loss of accessories due to theft at an additional cost or premium set by the insurance provider.

Roadside Assistance:

Bundled as an Add-on to your vehicle insurance, Roadside Assistance cover provides immediate assistance in case of an accident or breakdown of your vehicle. It offers emergency towing, flat tyre service, repair on the spot, emergency fuel, among others.

Volkswagen Car Insurance Claim Process:

Below are the steps to register a claim from your Volkswagen car insurance:

  • Step 1: Call insurance company’s customer care toll-free number and inform them about the incident.
  • Step 2: Register your claim.
  • Step 3: File an FIR at the nearest Police Station.
  • Step 4: The insurance company will send a surveyor to assess the damages and inspect the vehicle.
  • Step 5: In the case of cashless insurance, your insurance provider will process the repair bill without you having to pay from your pocket.
  • Step 6: In the case of a non-cashless coverage, you have to opt for the reimbursement process wherein you pay from your pocket and the insurance company will reimburse the repair bill to you later.
